You might recognize Cung Le from the video game Tekken where he played the role of Marshall Law in the movie. Or more recently you may have watched UFC 139 where he fought against Wanderlei Silva which won “Fight of the Night” awards. San Jose, CA arena was packed with Asian American fans there to cheer on Cung Le, and I have a feeling he will be asked to fight in the UFC again despite his loss. Cung Le was paid $420,000 including the fight of the night bonus, which was more than most of the other fight’s that night combined.

Stephan Bonnar: $68,000 and Martin Kampmann: $58,000 which goes to show that Asian American fans of the UFC are huge. He was even paid more than Dan Henderson and Mauricio Rua. But the real victory for Cung Le and for all the Asian American fans alike was having another Bruce Lee to look up to.

After the fight, Cung Le’s wife Suzanne came into the ring to support and comfort him. I wish we could hear what she was whispering in his ear, but it sounded like she was telling him that everything was okay, that he had a great fight and that she loved him. Cung Le is 39 years old, lives in San Jose, CA and is both an exciting fighter to watch but also an inspiration to Asian American’s everywhere.

Good job Cung, can’t wait to see you fight again.

Warm Regards,

Johnny Wolf
